Synopsis
A hundred years after, the memorial of the sporting tragedy which occurred on Easter Monday, 24th March 1913 at the summit of the Czech mountain range, the Giant Mountains. In the pioneering period of Czech skiing, a fifty kilometre international race took place on the Giant Mountains. A sudden deterioration of the weather led to the tragic death of one of the competition’s favourites, Bohumil Hanč, and of his friend Václav Vrbata. Starting from that event, the 24th March has became the Day of Mountain Rescue. This is a story of the great competitive ambition, courage, patriotism, and deep friendship, but also of disproportionate risk taking and an overestimating of one’s physical strength.
