Synopsis
The renowned Swedish director Tom Alandh turns the camera on himself and gives a personal reflection on Elitloppet, the annual harness racing event that takes place at Solvalla race track in Stockholm. The race has been arranged since 1952 and is one of Sweden’s biggest sports events, with over 50.000 visitors in the weekend. Elitloppet always takes place on Mother’s Day, the last Sunday in May, and the director first attended it back in 1959. Since then he has only missed one race in 1984 when it collided with his wife’s 40th birthday. Elitloppet has changed over the years, with the coming of high tech engineering and TV broadcasts, but the beauty of the horse trotting event never changes.
