Synopsis
Eleven-year-old Catherine wants to become a police dog handler and rescuer, who would be able to, with the assistance of her dog, salvage people from wreckages. She lives with her mum and sister in a small Czech town called Smiřice. Her mum runs a dog shelter and the affiliated dog fan club. Catherine often helps her mum in the shelter and also attends the club meetings. Both Catherine and her sister have dogs suitable for rescuing – border collies. Catherine regularly takes her dog Copina for rescue tests and assessments which are aimed at training dogs to dig out victims of disasters from wreckages, tests which are usually only attended by adults dogs.
