Synopsis:
For the first time on the big screen, we relive the stories of a golden generation of Jewish athletes: footballers, fencers, boxers and swimmers, many of whom lost their lives during the Holocaust. It is estimated that out of six million victims, more than 60,000 Jewish athletes were killed by the Nazis, including more than two hundred top athletes. Through the stories of sportsmen such as Harold Abrahams, Hank Greenberg and Max Baer, the documentary tells how, even in the concentration camps, sport became a form of resistance, an anchor of hope and a means of asserting one’s identity against hatred and anti-Semitism.
