Synopsis
The Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho, often just called Maracanã Stadium, is one of the most known stadium in the world. In 2013 it was rebuilt for the great sport events: Confederations Cup, World Cup, Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016. Consequently “Geral”, the lower ring of the stadium at the level of the field and one fo the most popular area, disappeared. This is not only another defeat for a kind of football we won’t see anymore but also a reflection about the gentrification process that Rio is going through.
