Synopsis
Cross-country skiing is one of the most popular sports in Sweden. It holds a strong tradition in the Swedish society, with millions of viewers watching the TV broadcast of Vasaloppet – the world’s biggest ski event – the first Sunday in March each year. Still, it’s a segregated sport regarding both socio-economic and ethnic aspects: not all Swedes today identify with this popular appeal. Stephan Wilson decided to follow his long time dream to try to understand the glory of the sport and become a skier. Six months later it is time for Stephan to participate in the 90 kilometer cross-country race Vasaloppet, together with 15,000 other skiers.
