Synopsis

Tord Grip is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Swedish football. When he was a player, he represented some of the best Sweden’s teams and participated in three international games for Sweden in the mid-60’s. However, Tord Grip’s major breakthrough first came when he started his career as manager. After coaching several different Swedish clubs, he was appointed assistant manager to the Swedish national team in 1977-78 and again in 1991-1997. Subsequently, Tord Grip pursued an international career as assistant to the legendary Swedish coach Sven-Göran “Svennis” Eriksson. Together they coached Lazioin Italy, England’s national team, Manchester City, Mexico’s national team, Notts County as well as the national team of  the Ivory Coast. Now, in the autumn of his life, Tord Grip is stepping out of coach Eriksson’s shadow and, inadvertently, making a name for himself. At the age of 77 he has been appointed assistant manager of the Kosovo national team, a country struggling to gain membership in FIFA.
