Synopsis
It is a documentary about Herbert Kilpin, a young textile worker from Nottingham, who founded the Milan Football & Cricket Club (AC Milan) and about what he meant to the Milan fans of the twenty first century. At the time of his death in 1916 Kilpin was seen as a pioneer of Italian football but he was quickly forgotten in Italy and remained unknown in England. Through fans’ efforts, Kilpin’s remains were rediscovered in time for the club’s centenary in 1999 and he was inducted into the Milan Hall of Fame in 2010. A novel based on his life and times was published to mark the centenary of his death in 2016. It is the journey of the author from Milan to Nottingham, accompanied by the fans who helped to keep Kilpin’s memory alive and about their own voyage to discover the city of their founder’s birth.
