L'edizione speciale è frutto di un sofisticato restauro presso Cinecittà Studios, che ha riportato le immagini all'originale splendore. | The movie realized with the Italian Alpine Club contribution, is one of the most important cinematographic works ever dedicated to the conquest of a big Himalayan mountain. The story is the one of Italian expedition to K2, driven in 1954 by the illustrious scientist Ardito Desio, partner and President of the Scientist Committee of CAI: on the base of the extraordinary shots realised by M. Fantin and other alpinist operators, who for the first time took and operate a camera to 8611 metres of height, director Marcello Baldi and his team realised a movie able to provokes emotion and admiration even today. The movie premiered with the attendance of former President of Italian Republic Luigi Einaudi; after that was simultaneously released in 52 Italian theatres and then projected in many countries all over the world in English, French and Spanish languages, earning everywhere a big appreciation. The film was made for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first climb of Mt. Everest, and tries to describe the activities of Czech mountaineers as far as conquering of the highest peak of our planet is concerned, from the first expeditions run in the 80’s of the last century up to the present days. The authors of the subject, photographer Josef Hladík and journalist Lubomír Vejražka, together with the director, Jindřich Procházka, concentrated not only on the individual climbs, but mainly on the testimonies of participants from both Czech and foreign expeditions. The "Al Filo" team didn't want to miss the chance to commemorate this event and sent a first class team to the glacier of Baltoro, with none other than Juanito Oiarzabal, Edurne Pasabàn, Ferràn Latorre and Mikel Zabalza. If there is a mountain with which the Al Filo team has had a long, profound relationship over the years, a mountain whose very name symbolises the challenge and spirit that motivates us each time we take on an ascent, that mountain is K2. Four expeditions have already been marked by this love-hate relationship with the giant of Karakorum, the second highest mountain on the planet and probably the most difficult summit in the world. There we let our colleague, Atxo Apellaniz, in 1994, after crowning the summit by the majestic north pillar. But, apart from remembrance, there were a lot of other reasons to go back, among which the fact that, if Edurne Pasabàn, one of the best climbers at present, could reach the top of K2, she would lead the race to do the fourteen eight thousands and become the only woman alive who has climbed K2. The team managed to get to the top but the return was epic; Juanito was lost for several hours and he and Edurne returned to base camp with serious frostbite in their feet, resulting in one of the most dramatic adventures in all the programme's history. | |

The natural boundaries of this province is Caspian Sea in the east and Sabalan Mountain in the west. The highlands of this province range from 1200 mt. to 4811 mt.
