Milan (Italy) – from October 7 to 11– has hosted “ & 202543rd ” Final of cinema, television, culture and sports and Olympic image at the conclusion of 21 Festivals (in the 5 Continents) of the “World FICTS Challenge”. The Festival was organized by FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (recognized by the IOC – International Olympic Committee) and chaired by Prof. Franco Ascani, Member of the IOC’s Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission. The Festival’s core venue was the Testori Auditorium of the Lombardy Region, with screenings at the Cinema Centrale, the Brera International Center, and the FICTS Headquarters. The 2025 edition stood out for its high institutional and cultural value thanks to the support of the Minister for Sport and Youth, the collaboration with the Lombardy Region, the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, Sky Sport, the patronage of Sport e Salute, Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Paralympic Committee (CIP), the Municipality of Milan. Institutional partner ICSC – Institute for Cultural Sports Credit.

The President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella awarded FICTS with the “President’s Medallion” for “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2025”.

The main topic of the 2025 edition was “SPORT, TRUCE AND OLYMPIC PEACE” with the International Conference as its highlight. A moment of high institutional, cultural and international significance, attended by representatives of the worlds of sport, institutions, diplomacy and culture from 130 FICTS joined Countries, scholars, athletes and prominent spokespeople.

SPORT MOVIES & TV 2025 (with free entrance) – part of the “Cultural Olympiad of Milano Cortina 2026” – was enhanced by the presence of 63 all-time Lombard Olympic Champions with 84 medals, who signed the “Olympic Wall” a symbolic installation permanently located at the headquarters of the Lombardy Region.

Selected from 51,066 participants from 95 schools, students and teachers attended the “Ragazzi …in gamba – TROFEI DI MILANO CORTINA 2026” Awards Ceremony (part of the Education Gen26 Program of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation). Speakers included: Hon. Bruno Molea, President of AICS National and CSIT, Stefania Belmondo, multiple Olympic cross-country skiing champion, Marco Bussetti, Director of the Veneto Regional School Office, Edoardo Cioni, CEO of Buona Spa, Claudia Colla, Representative of the European Commission for Northern Italy, Director of the Milan Office, Daniela Fumagalli, Regional Coordinator of Motor, Physical and Sports Education at the Lombardy Regional School District (USR) and Gian Vincenzo Zuccotti, Director of Pediatrics at the Vittore Buzzi Children’s Hospital.

Five days with a lineup of sports champions who provided thrills: Zlatan Ibrahimović, Senior Advisor to RedBird AC Milan; , 15-time world motorcycling champion; Fabio Capello, television commentator; Roberto Donadoni, Cristian Brocchi, Fabio Galante, Luigi Apolloni, coaches and former footballers and Fabio Fognini, tennis player. Paralympic athletes Mirko Testa, silver and bronze medalist at Paris 2024 and Federico Andreoli, paracycling world champion, were introduced by journalist Claudio Arrigoni.

Prof. Franco Ascani was awarded with the “Sport Education Global Impact Award” by the Olympian Liston Bochette and Bonnie Tiell of Tiffin University (USA), “which celebrates those individuals who champion accessible, high-quality sport learning experiences across diverse cultural and international contexts and  dedication to promoting sport education through film and cinema, and his efforts to create opportunities for all ages – particularly in conjunction with the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina“.

The Minister of Sport and Youth, Dr. Abodi, awarded Prof. Ascani with the “Certificate of Solemn Commendation” “for his irreplaceable contribution in promoting and uniting culture, sport, and communication through cinema and television worldwide”.

The short film ” THE SIXTH CIRCLE – GenerAZIONE2026” produced with the contribution and support of the Treviso, Belluno | Dolomiti Chamber of Commerce, received the “Futuro Vincente Award

The presentation of the documentary “Tacchi e tacchetti, le ragazze del Navile” about the Italian National Nuns’ football event, featuring Moreno Buccianti. A tribute evening for Luciana Rota’sCoppi è per sempre (Coppi is forever”) featuring composer Rossella Spinosa and Andrea De Luca, Deputy Director of Raisport.

A flattering outcome, with interesting results, especially given the event’s strong international appeal, complemented by widespread national participation and a critical and public success. These are the elements that characterized the event that presented SPORT MOVIES & TV 2025 to the public. 116 screenings (selected from 63 countries), 207 directors and producers, 6 exhibitions, meetings, workshops, Side events, 85 production companies and 64 television networks, 129,623 participants (in person and online) brought the 2025 edition to life through documentaries, reports, TV commercials, fiction, cartoons, etc. for a total of 95 hours of screenings.
