On 23 June, the world celebrates Olympic Day, a global initiative established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to promote the universal values of sport, friendship, respect and excellence inviting the world to get active and play sport.

FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (130 Member Countries – chaired by Prof. Franco Ascani), recognized by the IOC, proudly joins the celebrations of “Olympic Day 2026”. Through its activities, the Federation reaffirms its commitment to advancing Olympic and Paralympic values — inclusion, dialogue, education, and well-being — by harnessing the universal language of sports media to transcend borders and help build a more connected, aware, and inclusive society.

At the FICTS International Headquarters in Milan, the operational and cultural heart of the Federation, a series of free public events will be held, featuring screenings of some of the most inspiring moments in Olympic and Paralympic history, open-air exhibitions, educational talks, and special thematic activities.

Olympic Day 2026 will also provide an opportunity to extend the remarkable legacy of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. To this end, FICTS will promote celebrations and initiatives across the 51 venues that hosted the FICTS project “Emotions of the Games – Culture Through Sport” throughout Lombardy. These locations, which welcomed competitions, cultural events, and community activities before and during the Games, will continue to serve as vibrant spaces for memory, education, and participation, demonstrating how Olympic values can continue to generate opportunities and inspire engagement long after the closing ceremony.

Olympic Images Day in 27 Countries: A Global Movement

FICTS’ commitment extends far beyond Italy. Simultaneously, a wide range of activities — including screenings, workshops, sporting events, exhibitions, and ceremonies — will take place in 27 cities across the five continents, inspired by the theme “Culture & Legacy” and the IOC motto “You Can Do This! Let’s Move.”

The “World FICTS Challenge” Festival that precede the Final, will be held, under FICTS’ Patronage, in: Barcellona (Spain), Beausoleil (Côte d’Azur – France), Zlatibor (Serbia), Liberec (Czech Rep.), Pristina (Kosovo), Tehran (I. R. Iran), Lisbon (Portugal), La Marsa (Tunisia), Nagano (Japan), Sarajevo (Bosnia Herzegovina), Santo Domingo (Rep. The Final of the World FICTS Challenge 2026 will be held in Milan from 30 October to 2 November 2026.

Through this international network of events, FICTS further strengthens its role as a bridge between sport, culture, and legacy — also through the Observatory  for Sport and Cultural Values – The Road of the Games (OCS) — helping to make Olympic Day a truly global celebration of the principles that inspire the Olympic Movement and continue to live on every day in communities around the world.
