Cinema, TV and sports culture will be protagonists in Milan which will host – from 5 to 9 November 2024 – “SPORT MOVIES & TV – 42nd MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FEST”, the World Final of 20 Festivals (on the 5 Continents) of World Championship of Television, Cinema, Culture and Sports Communication “World FICTS Challenge” under the slogan “FICTS is Culture through sport – Olympic Emotion”. The Festival is organized by the FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs joined with 130 Countries (chaired by Prof. Franco Ascani Member of the IOC Olympic Culture and Heritage Commission) recognized by the International Olympic Committee (for which it promotes the values ​​of sport through footages) in collaboration with the Lombardy Region and the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation in view of the special edition “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2026 for the Games”.

The event is characterized by international and national participation and will be articulated into 100 screenings (selected from 1,560 participating movies and including 25 world and European premieres, exclusive Olympic footages, etc.), 4 meetings, 3 workshops, 4 exhibitions, 2 conferences Press, 8 side events, the Paralympic International Movies & TV Fest and 20 award ceremonies by national and international guests. There will be thematic days as “Ragazzi in gamba” (in 2024 were the participation of 42,000 students from 70 schools in Milan), “The cinema is international”, etc.

A true “Festival of Olympic footages” with a “special showcase” dedicated to the Olympics. On the occasion of the “Olympic Year Paris 2024” – with the aim to promote sports culture and its inestimable values ​​- an “Olympic Emotion” Space will be set up for the entire duration of the Festival with the non-stop screening of the best footages of the Olympic Games towards “Milano Cortina 2026” with the performances of 985 Champions on the screen and the participation of national and international guests from the world of sport, cinema, television and journalism.

The Festival is a privileged meeting place for 10,000 operators and experts in the sector from all over the world including authors, media, global networks, production houses, majors, producers, radio, directors, actors, Olympic Committees and Sports Federations, advertising agencies and communications that will illustrate the universe of television and sports cinema through documentaries, commercials, reports, fiction, cartoons, etc. in one of the 8 competitive sections.

The Festival of World FICTS Challenge 2024: Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Cote d’Azur (France), Zlatibor (Serbia), Liberec (Czech Rep.), Pristina (Kosovo), Tehran (I. R. Iran), Mayagüez (Puerto Rico), Nagano (Japan), Budva (Montenegro), Beijing (China), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Fort Myers (USA), Kampala (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), Rio (Brasil), Kingston (Jamaica), Rogaška Slatina (Slovenia), Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Media visibility will be guaranteed by the main national and international networks, local broadcasters, live streaming as well as by the daily press, sector periodicals, radio, internet and new media. 

Every year the “FICTS Guirlande d’Honneur”, the highest the Fédération, considered the “Oscar” of sports Television and Cinema for those people of Sport, Cinema and Television who stand out for a significant action to promote cultural and ethical values.

All the works admitted to the Festival will have high visibility at national and international level: in addition to appearing on the event program, they will be published – with a detailed explanatory sheet – in the Festival Catalog as well as on the official FICTS website while the trailer of each work will be published online line in the section of the same name through the Federation’s official YouTube channel. A FICTS Selection Commission will choose – at the end of the Final – some of the best productions that will be sent to participate in the 20 Festivals of the “World FICTS Challenge 2025”.
