Nell’arco dell’intero campionato, la squadra percorre, infatti, 18.500 chilometri: 3250 solo per andare in trasferta a San Pietroburgo, altri 3000 per Mosca. Ciononostante, i risultati arrivano: nel 1997, il Communalshchik è arrivato quarto nel campionato russo e nel 1998 ha partecipato addirittura alla Coppa dei Campioni europea. When the Soviet regimen has fall down, it begun the first economic difficulties and the team has been heavily damaged.
Distances are the biggest problem, in fact during the championship the team covers about 18.500 kilometers: for example they have 3.250 Km to go in transfer to Saint Petersburg, 3000 Km for Moscow and so on. However, they had some good results: in 1997, the Communalshchik has finished the Russian Championship in 4th position and in 1998 they have participated at the European Champions League. “Women of Siberia” tells the reality of this team and how is Siberia today through the daily life of these women, their sacrifices, and their will to make sport in an apparently prohibitive atmosphere.

At the end they were accused of spying, high treason and of subverting the socialist system. Only two of the twelve heroes of this totalitarian story are alive. The others died mostly of cancer probably because of the uranium mines. A team forgotten by authorities and public.

In 1948, he received an offer to keep goal in the NHL. His star-studded sports career and happy family life was destroyed in 1950 in a fabricated political process. Together with other players from the national team he was accused of espionage and treason and sentenced to 15 years in jail and forced labour in uranium mines. As a result of the conditions in which he was kept, as well as radiation, he died prematurely in 1963 at the age of 46. His daughter Blanka depicts Modrý's life from his sporting beginnings and worldwide successes through to the dramatic moments. Blanka reveals the tragic context which led to the trial of Modrý which became an exemplary case of the communist regime's oppression.
