The children appreciates the beauty of living in symbiosis and therefore modifies their vision of the reef: not an aquarium anymore, but a living system. Its nice inhabitants, like in a dream o in beautiful fairy tale, speak and present themselves, explaining their biological and behavioural characteristics. The Sumatra episode was done in order to surf unknown areas with difficult access and navigation. Departure from Bengkulu port, a city south of Sumatra, toward the islands of Mega, Engano and Mentawai some fourteen hours away by boat in the Indian Ocean.
Since strong vessels do not navigate this region, a frail boat was used with an Indonesian captain and crew whom did not speak any English, thus having little communication. The surfers were impressed with the quality of the waves and incredible view. The cultural shock in being in such a special place and the lack of comfort and safety from boat enhanced the adventure really felt.

The places where the tidal wave, named Mascaret, has such dimensions as to be “surfed” are in Brazil on the Amazon, in China on the river Qlantang, in England on the River Severn Bore and in France on the Dordogne river near Bordeaux city.
