Located at 100 kilometers from the Beijing city center, Pearl Spring Primary School is made of children coming from low-income families from surrounding villages. For an elementary school in a rural area, hockey is an expensive sporting activity, from training facility to equipment and a trainer. For this reason, the school created their own ice rink on the river for free: fifteen sets of beginner hockey gear were bought through fundraising. Step by step, a hockey team was formed for the kids in the mountains.
