SYNOPSYS:
From its humble beginnings in 1970, when the lunatic fringe of Cape Town runners embarked on a 35-mile race to train for the Comrades Marathon till 50 years later, when, in 2019, this athletic event will draw more than 25 000 people from all over the world to its start-line. At a time when South Africa was not able to compete internationally, no one would have imagined that a race that started with 26 runners in Cape Town, now sees all people no matter their age, gender, religion or race, lined up to partake in this one event at one time.
