Synopsis

The stories of seven individuals from around the world as they run the 2012 Rome Marathon: from first time marathoners to seasoned veterans and professionals, each person has had a uniquely different life path, which has led them to the marathon.  Vasyl Matviychuk of Ukraine whishes to make the Olympic team while Epiphanie Nyirabarame from Rwanda uses her successes as a runner to provide for a better life for her family and community. Others such as Clifford Scott from Jobstown, New Jersey use running as a catharsis after the passing of his son while Italian Domenico Anzini at 72-years-old has run every Rome Marathon since the race’s inception. Woven throughout each runner’s marathon experience is the unique story of the marathon itself as told by many of the world’s greatest runners.  Featured international athletes include Women’s World Record Holder Paula Radcliffe of the United Kingdom, 2004 Olympic Marathon Champion Stefano Baldini from Italy and four-time Champion of the Boston and New York Marathons Bill Rodgers from the United States.
