Synopsis
More than one hundred years have passed since the arrival of football in Uzbekistan. All were delighted when in 1912 the game was played for the first time in Kokand. In the last quarter of the century, one of the greatest team of the country was the Professional Futbol Klubi Paxtakor, known also just as “Pakhtakor”, which achieved a considerable fame. In 1979, 17 players of the team died in a plane crash. The team has been rebuilt thanks to the clubs of the soviet championship which loaned Pakhtakor a player each.
