The FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (130 Member Countries) recognized by the International Olympic Committee for which promotes the values of sport and the socio-cultural significance of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (integrating sport with culture) through the footages, actively participates in the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace established by the UN General Assembly on April 6 and corresponds to the opening of the first Olympic Games of the modern era (Athens 1896).

FICTS organizes several activities aimed at the culture of Olympism simultaneously in the 20 venues of the “World FICTS Challenge” Festivals: Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Cote d’Azur (France), Zlatibor (Serbia), Sarajevo (Bosnia Herzegovina), Liberec (Czech Rep.), Pristina (Kosovo), Tehran (I. R. Iran), Nagano (Japan), Beijing (China), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Kampala (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), Rio (Brasil), Phu Yen City (Vietnam), Kingston (Jamaica), Rogaška Slatina (Slovenia), Buenos Aires (Argentina). 

Projections, Meetings, Workshops, etc. are scheduled in each location to educate young people to understand the power of sport as a discipline able to combine, with respect for universal ethical principles or to inspire a philosophy of life that tie sport, culture and education in a “global movement at the service of humanity” as defined Prof. Franco Ascani FICTS President and Member of the IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission.

In Milan (Italy) are scheduled projection – expecially for young people – with exclusive images of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of all time at the headquarters of the Federation with the aim of spread the educational and training values of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement through images, to inspire a philosophy of life that combines sport, culture and education and to promote Olympism and Olympic Culture among young people towards the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The day presents an opportunity to recognize the positive role sport and physical activity play in communities and in people’s lives across the globe. Sport has the power to change the world; it is a fundamental right and a powerful tool to strengthen social ties and promote sustainable development and peace, as well as solidarity and respect for all.
