Great success for the seven edition of the “7th Kampala International FICTS Festival” concluded with the delivery of the Awards to the winners at the concluded at “Seascallop” at Kamwokya.

The three winners included “Play of Hope” by former national Badminton player Annet Nakamya, which depicts the life of a badminton player striving to play under little financial conditions it was directed by famous singer, play right and film producer Mariam Ndagire through Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation in the Documentary category.

The two other winners where “Soccer Ball Juggler” by Anthony Mugabi for Star Television, Uganda in the Sports News Report category.

Love Thy Game”, a story depicting and interviewing the victims that survived the 2010 World Cup Bombings at Kyadondo Rugby grounds and Ethiopian Village was the third winner in the Sport and Society category produced by Nakamya again.

The other winners where Pierre de Courbertain: Yesterday and Today by Birthe Lindgren, Arte Television from Switzerland in the Olympic Spirit category together with Victoire Terminus a story depiting the life of a female boxer in Kinishasa Democratic Republic of Congo by IIaria Gomarasca Wide Management, France in the TV category.

The five winners are the nominees to the “Sport Movies & Tv 2013” in Milan, Italy where all the entries from the globe will be determined to choose an overall winner”- Andrew Luwandagga, the first FICTS Vice President said at the closure of the three day festival.  “Globally the their 13 festivals dotted across the world that include USA, Brazil, China, Spain, Turkey and Russia just to mention, but a few however Uganda is the only country in Africa that hosts its own FICTS festival“.

Africa is yet to win a award at the World Festival however Uganda has been recognized for its contribution at the last three Festivals in Milan.
