The Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch has hosted the “Opening Ceremony” of the B”CN Sports Film – Barcelona International FICTS Festival 2023” part of the International Circuit “World FICTS Challenge” 

The “Opening Ceremony” of the 13th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival, presented by TV3 journalist Mireia Vicente, began with a welcome speech by David Escudé, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and sports councilor of the Barcelona City Council, who thanked the attendees for their presence.

FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani attended at the Opening Ceremony during which he delivered the “FICTS Diamond d’Honneur” to David Escudé.

At the event, the winner of the new edition of the SpotSport contest, Josep Montserrat, was awarded the prize by Alex Bescós, marketing manager of SPORT’s newspaper. The SpotSport contest aims to help the promotion and support of talents through the production of an advertising video for this new edition of the Festival.

The BCN Sports Film Festival has paid tribute to Carlos Saura, Spanish filmmaker, photographer and writer who died just over a week ago to highlight his great film legacy. Likewise, once again, the festival wanted to recognize personalities or entities from the world of sports that have left their mark and have been a reference in the promotion of sport and its values.

The winning spot “Impuls” was produced by Josep Montserrat, a graduate in audiovisual communication and advertising and PR, and founder of @josepmotion.

This year, the centenary of the Catalan Basketball Federation is commemorated. A federation that has 100 years of federative management, organizing, promoting, directing, and regulating all basketball activity in Catalonia. Ferran Aril, President of the Federation, collected the award. 

Agustí Argelich, artistic director of the BCN Sports Film Festival, highlighted the quality of this year’s productions and the values they transmit, such as the spirit of self-improvement, companionship, enthusiasm and integration, among others. 

Finally, a selection of productions was screened to give those attending the inauguration a first contact with the audiovisuals that will be shown at the different venues of the Festival.

The program of the BCN Sports Film Festival includes 67 films distributed in 22 different sessions. This new edition is free of charge and has a mixed format to adapt to the needs of the public. On the one hand, the on-site format, through which you can follow the sessions that make up the program in 7 different venues in Barcelona. On the other hand, a virtual format in which the screenings can be watched through the Festhome platform. In both cases it will be necessary to book the ticket through the official website of the festival: www.bcnsportsfilm.org

The winners of this edition will be announced at the closing ceremony that will take place on Saturday, February 25 at 19h at the Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch.
