The Wallonie-Brussels Panathlon is an association which has been working for 10 years in Belgium to foster and promote the values of sporting ethics and fair play among young people (www.panathlon.be). From the 3rd to the 6th of October 2016, in conjunction with the FICTS (Fédération International Cinéma Télévision Sportifs), the association will be holding the second edition of the “Brussels & Wallonie Sport E-Motions 2016 International FICTS Festival” in Wallonia (Charleroi and Liege) and Brussels (at the Wolubilis Culture Village).

This event is part of the calendar of the “World FICTS Challenge 2016” Championship of Television, Cinema, Sport, Culture and Communication.

Themes:

The Brussels & Wallonie Sport E-Motions 2016 International FICTS Festival will focus on 1 central theme from today’s sporting world: “Sport, the Spirit of Humanity”.

Programme:

The Brussels & Wallonie Sport E-Motions 2016 International FICTS Festival is open to all productions highlighting the central theme indicated above.

By ‘productions’, we mean animated films, documentaries, journalism features, fiction, experimental and promotional productions, personal videos.

These videos can be short, medium or feature-length.

 

Applications

The Brussels & Wallonie Sport E-Motions 2016 International FICTS Festival:

– is open to both professional and independent productions;

– will consider any film produced during the past five years;

– will permit each candidate to present as many films as they wish, provided they comply with these rules.

 

Jury:

The official jury of the festival will consist of 5 personalities who have made their mark on the worlds of sport, cinema, audio-visual and culture. Their decisions and verdicts will be final.

Awards:

The jury will award the following prizes:

1) “Short length footage Award”:

3) “Long length footage Award”:

4) The “Public Award”

5) The “ Youth Award”

In addition, the jury will be free to propose as many “special” awards as it wishes.

 

Prize-giving ceremony:

The festival’s honours will be officially presented at the closing ceremony on Thursday the 6th of October 2016 at the City Council Hall in Woluwé-St-Lambert.

Candidates many subsequently be asked to provide other promotional materials.

Selection for the official programme:

Under the supervision of the FICTS, the Organising Committee of the “Brussels & Wallonia Sport E-Motions 2016 – International FICTS Festival” will decide on the official programme. Screening rights will not be granted to third parties without the prior, express and written consent of the producers or their legal representatives.

Selection for the “World FICTS Challenge 2016” programme:

The prizewinning films from the “Brussels & Wallonia Sport E-Motions 2016 – International FICTS Festival” will be entered for the international finals of the “World FICTS Final 2016” and for the “World FICTS Challenge 2017” (which include 16 festivals organized worldwide). Consequently, the winning entrants will grant express authorization to the organizing committee of the Brussels & Wallonia Sport E-Motions 2016 International FICTS Festival to pass on their contact details to the organising committees of the other festivals concerned.

Promotion:

The participants will authorize the organizing committee of the festival to partially broadcast their films (or pictures) in the media with a view to promoting the festival.

Subsequent use of the films:

Unless otherwise requested by candidates, the Wallonia-Brussels Panathlon may, as Festival organiser, use the films selected within the context of its activities promoting fair play. This usage will be strictly limited to activities organised by the Wallonia-Brussels Panathlon with the aim of raising general public awareness of sporting values.
