After the great success of the previous seven editions of “CINEfoot – International Fooball Film Festival” (www.cinefoot.org), an itinerant event dedicated to soccer audiovisual, Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Secretaria Municipal de Cultura and IBEFEST promoted CINE ESPORTE, a marathon of sports movies (free entrance) enriched with an exhibition that takes place during the Olympic Games in August and during the Paralympic Games in September.

Moreover, Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Secretaria Municipal de Cultura and IBEFEST will promote the Exhibition “Cine Esporte” at the Centro Cultural Justiça Federal and the Cine Joia Jacarepagua. Cine Esporte, organised by Antonio Leal, proposes a special selection of movies from different countries, a real global mosaic of sports videos. The event is included in the International Circuit “World FICTS Challenge” in collaboration with FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, joined with 114 countries and recognized by the International Olympic Committee. During the Paralympic Games, from 13th to 18th September, the second part of Cine Esporte will take place in four different locations: Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Ponto Cine, Centro Cultural Justiça Federal and Cine Joia Copacabana.
FICTS President Franco Ascani was honoured with the “Football Art Honor”, the award granted to personalities with distinguished and recognized work for culture and sport. The tribute ceremony took place on the traditional Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Bank of Brazil Cultural Center), home of CINEFOOT RIO DE JANEIRO during the Olympic Games.
