The Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch in Barcelona has been the seat of “Opening Ceremony” of the eighth edition of “BCN Sports Film – Barcellona International FICTS Festival”. Guests of honour: David Escudé, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and Sports Commissioner in Barcelona’s town hall, Prof. Franco Ascani FICTS President and President of Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco.

Several personalities linked to the Olympic Games of Barcelona 92 have received a tribute during the Ceremony: Diana Garrigosa has been in charge of collecting the tribute awarded to her husband, Pascual Maragall who was the Mayor of Barcelona during the Olympic Games and is also the ex-president of the Generalitat de Catalunya. He has been awarded this tribute to thank him for his contribution to the world of sports. Athletes Jesús Ángle García Bragado and Miriam Blasco Soto have been recognized for their sports career, Jesús Ángel started his Olympic trajectory in the Barcelona 92’ games and he has continued to extend said path up until Rio 2016, becoming the only sportsman in the world who has participated in 7 Olympic editions. Judoka Miriam Blasco the first of many Spanish Olympic sportswomen to attain the Olympic Gold (during Olympics 1992)

The event is organized – within the World Cinema and Sport Television Championship “World FICTS Challenge” – by the “Fundacio Barcelona Olimpica” directed by Dr. Juli Pernas Lopes (director of the Museu Olimpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch) in collaboration with Nikita Distribution, with the support of the FICTS, the Barcelona City Council and the Spanish Olympic Committee. The jury, composed by Dr Marta Clari (4th V. Mayor of Barcelona with responsibility to the citizens’ rights management), Jorge Barrio (producer and founder of Laimar Films), Luce Grosjean (producer and member of the Association Française du Cinéma d ‘Animation), Manuel Ibern (V. President of the Catalan Swimming Federation), Vicky Marco (film producer), decreed the winners of the Festival who will attend automatically in the World Final “Sport Movies & Tv 2017” scheduled in Milano from 15 to 20 November.

Vitoria Cabezas has collected the prize in homage to her father, Guillermo Cabezas Conde, one of the biggest promoters of the Paralympic sports, as well as founder of the Spanish Federation for Paralympic Sports and President of the International Association for the Disabled.

The ceremony has also awarded the winners of the sixth edition of the SpotSport contest (in the picture below): Marc Vilaseca in collaboration with Jordi Vas, Aitor Medialdua and Meritxell Bou. David Casanovas, Chief Director of the Sport newspaper has handed this prize to the winners.

The people attending this Ceremony, presented by Jordi Garcia Riera, have testimony, thanks to the screening of 7 short films, of the type of audiovisual content that will be showcased in the Festival’s 8 theaters. A unique opportunity to enjoy sport in its most artistic way.
