FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, joined with 114 Countries (recognised by the International Olympic Committee) attended at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 with a Delegation led by President Prof. Franco Ascani, who drew – together with the Executive Committee – a positive balance of “World FICTS Challenge 2016” – the Worldwide Championship of Television and Sport Cinema, articulated into 18 Phases, whose Final is in Milan (Italy) from 16th – 21st November.
At the end of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani released an interview to an important Tv network: “2016 Rio Olympic Games were a positive edition of a historical event. We have recorded a vertical take-off (plus 46%) of the screening on digital platforms and have been a great opportunity for FICTS thanks to meetings aimed to develop and to promote the “culture through sport images” among citizens of different countries with different lifestyles”.
In Rio FICTS President attended to the “Award Ceremony” of “Sports Memory Rio 2016” scheduled in Rio from July 27th to September 25th during which were awarded: Pedro Garcia (Sportv) responsible for the biggest sports channel in Brazil, Lars Grael, 2 times bronze medal in Seoul and Atlanta, ex- national secretary of sports and active leader in the Olympic movement and Fabiana Beltrame World champion of rowing and active female leader in sport.
The exposition to which joined the IOC President Dr Thomas Bach, is organized by Guanabara Filmes (directed by José Joaquim Soares and José Candido Soares) in collaboration with FICTS, with the Government of the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the Brazilian Post Office (Correios) sponsor of the Organizing Committee of Olympic Games 2016 and it aims to enhance the universality and the positive values of sport through the emotional images of great directors and qualified operators in television and sport world. The itinerant event – sponsored and supported by FICTS and added in the International Circuit “World FICTS Challenge 2016” – consists of an audiovisual exposition that aims to show as a result of ten years precious job, the history of World, Brazilian and Olympic Sport, through the lenses of cinema for over 100 years, like a real time travel.
