The “Kenya International Sports FICTS Film Festival” will be held from October 29 to November 1 in Africa and is part of the “World FICTS Challenge 2020”. It is a premier event in the continent of Africa and the past two festivals have been successful in various areas and the team is always striving to improve by making this an exciting festival each year, where KISFF brand Ambassadors, Legend Douglas Wakiihuri and Legend Rose Tata- Muya who did proud on their roles for the term of two-years will also join in the advisory council of KISFF. The team is proud to appoint athletic legend Tegla Loroupe and Rugby Legend Humphrey Kayange as the KISFF Brand Ambassadors for the next two years. Both brand ambassadors are doing great philanthropist work running their own foundations. With Safinaz Foundation and Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation and Humphrey Kayange Good Kenyan Foundation, I am sure the good synergy in working together can benefit all the Foundations to achieve each Foundation’s objectives further.
The biggest success KISFF has had is being recognised by Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS), headquarters in Milan (Italy). FICTS is the only body from sports film promotion recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). KISFF has signed an MOU with FICTS to work together forwards promoting the goals of promoting sports in film. The team is also in discussion on the different subjects for the Panel discussions and Lectures on areas affecting sports in Kenya and globally.
KISFF is organised by the Safinaz Foundation which has been producing the only consistent sports magazine in Kenya is also under discussion with producers to produce sports documentaries and sports movies on our Kenyan sports heroes of the last 50 years.
The third KISFF event is earmarked from 29/10/2020 to 1/11/2020. The team is once again led by yours truly, Florence Nduta as Marketing and Events Director, Chris Kamau as Publicity and Communication Lead, Franki Ashiruka as the Head Juror and John Muli at the Secretariat. I take this opportunity to thank our outgoing Head Juror Njoki Muhoho and productions expert Risper Muthamia who will both now be on our advisory council.
We look forward to partnering various stakeholders in sports and film to take this event a notch up and make Kenyans proud of once again, leading in the continent of Africa. The team has already received over 400 film submissions for this year. As we continue negotiating unprecedented times of the Covid-19 globally, several areas of our lives have been affected both socially and economically. The multi-billion sports industry has not been spared. The most hit are the professional sportsmen and sportswomen who have suffered loss of activity and a huge loss of income.
All sports bodies globally and locally are exploring how to revive this much needed industry that kept all sports lovers engaged. The team of Kenya International Sports Film Festival has also been reviewing and thinking on the project of hosting what will be the third year running since the inception in 2018.
At one stage, the KISFF team was considering to postpone until post Covid-19. However, after consultations and discussions with various stakeholders, the KISFF team is now determined to prepare and be ready for the festival that is normally held towards the end of the year.
