Prof. Franco Ascani was re-elected – for four-year term 2020-2023 – by the Congress – unanimously – as President of FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (recognized by International Olympic Committee). Secretary General: Dr Enzo Cappiello. During the Congress were elected the new Members of the four Permanent FICTS Commissions: Festival, Communication and Marketing, Market rights television and movies and Youth, Education And Culture. The Federation promotes the values of sport through footages in the 121 Member Countries. The new members of the Board of Directors and the members of the 4 Permanent Commissions recorded an increase in the number of women (32%) with a significant global increase in the presence of Members from Africa and Oceania. During the Assembly – in addition to the initiatives that the Federation promotes around the world – the 20 Festivals of the International Circuit “World FICTS Challenge 2020” that will end in Milan were presented by the Organizers.

Another prestigious assignment for Prof. Franco Ascani who was recently appointed IOC Member of Culture and Olympic Heritage by IOC President Lawyer Thomas Bach.

The appointment (the only Italian in the Commission) constitutes a significant recognition for its fifty-year activity dedicated to the Sports Movement and for the work carried out for the dissemination of Olympic Values through the many international initiatives of the FICTS, together with the IOC Foundation for Culture and Olympic Heritage and the Olympic Channel. In this capacity, Prof. Ascani will take part, on January 16th 2020, in the work of the Commission at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne on the occasion of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (January 9th – 22nd).
