2016: OLYMPIC GAMES, UEFA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP ON SCREEN
The 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games (August 5 to 21) and the European Championship in France (June 10 – July 10) will have a leading role on screen (and not only) at the Final of the “World FICTS Challenge” Worldwide Championship of Television, Cinema, Sport, Culture and Communication articulated in 18 Festivals around the 5 Continents. The candidature of Milan (Italy) as seat of “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2016 – 34th Milano International FICTS Fest” Worldwide Final scheduled from November 16 to 21, has been approved by international bodies.
The event – through “FICTS is Culture through sport” slogan – is organized by FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, joined with 114 Member Countries (chaired by Prof. Franco Ascani Member of “IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage” and recognized by the International Olympic Committee for which it promotes the values of sport through footages.
18 FESTIVALS FROM 5 CONTINENTS IN PIAZZA DUOMO IN MILANO
The seventeenth century Palazzo Giureconsulti, in the hearth of Milano (Piazza Mercanti 2 – corner Piazza Duomo) will be the “Core business” of the event (with free entrance) articulated into Projections (150 Selected productions among which worldwide and European premiere, exclusive Olympic footages, etc.), Meetings, Workshop, Exhibitions, Press Conferences, Awards of international guests, Side Events distributed in different locations in the city in cooperation with sports and cultural organizations. Sala Parlamentino of Palazzo Giureconsulti will host the FICTS General Assembly to which will attend the delegates of 114 Member Countries and of 18 Festivals of the “World FICTS Challenge” that FICTS organizes, every year, in the 5 Continents: Kathmandu (Nepal), Los Angeles (USA), Barcelona (Spain), Kazan (Rep. Of Tatarstan – Russia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil – Cinefoot), Tehran (I.R. Five days of Television, Cinema and Sport Culture, a privileged place of meeting for Networks, authors, media, broadcastings, worldwide houses of productions, majors, producers, directors, filmmakers, Olympic Committees and Sports Federations, advertising and integrated communication agencies, that will show the whole universe of cinema and sport television – for five days in 5 points of projections at the same time – through spot, reportages, fiction, cartoon, etc. in the 7 competitive Sections: 1. Olympic Spirit (Olympic Values); 2. Documentary (Individual sports; Team sports; Great Champions; Reportage); 3. TV Shows & New Technologies (Sports programs, Talk Shows, Entertaining; New Media); 4. Marlene Owens, daughter of Jesse Owens authentic myth of the twentieth century, who won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, has been invited to the Festival in order to speak – 35 years after his death – about her father’s history told in the film “Race”. Directed by Stephen Hopkins and written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, the film stars Stephan James as Owens, and co-stars Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt and Carice van Houten.

“SPORT E-MOTIONS”: THE “2016 OLYMPIC YEAR” IN EXHIBITION
On the occasion of the “2016 Olympic Year”, with the aim to further promote the sport culture and its priceless values, will be arranged a “SPORT E-MOTIONS” space where will be projected on screen, without interruption, the most beautiful footages of Rio Olympic Games and an editing with some magical sporting moments and the spectacular performances of the Olympic Games of all time. One day will be dedicated to the projection of the official film (restored) of “1960 Rome Olympic Games” (directed by Romolo Marcellini) and of the official film of 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games “Rings of the world” produced by Ostrov Studio (Russia) and directed by Sergey Miroshnichenko.
“GUIRLANDE D’HONNEUR” FOR STALLONE AND FOR BOXING
Two arts in comparison to “Sport Movies & Tv 2016”: Cinema (the seventh) and Boxing (noble art of fighting). The FICTS Executive Committee has decided to award with the “Excellence Guirlande d’Honneur” Sylvester Stallone, actor, director and film producer. Recent winner of the “Golden Globe” for “Best Supporting Actor” in “Creed”, Stallone is celebrating two special anniversaries: 70 years and 40 years after (1976) the first film of the saga “Rocky” (winner of 3 “Oscar”) through which he has been inserted in the “International Boxing Hall of Fame”. Also on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the Italian Boxing Federation will be present Mr Ching-Kuo Wu EB IOC Member and President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
CINEMA AND “BALLON D’OR”: FOOTBALL PROTAGONIST
Football is for film an inspiration with his show. For fans of this sport and film will include a showcase on the occasion of European Championship France 2016, with the productions submitted in the “Movies & Tv Football” Section.
There will attend the event, beside prestigious guests of culture, sport, journalism world, the winners of medals at Rio Olympic Games and some of the protagonists at the European Football Championship that will be awarded with the “Excellence Guirlande d’Honneur” as it was for Pelè at the presentation – in European premiere – of the film “Pelè Eternal”, for Marcello Lippi (world champion at Germany 2006) and for “Golden balls” Johan Cruijff, Gianni Rivera, Hristo Stoichkov, Marco Van Basten, Fabio Cannavaro.
CELEBRATION OF WORLDWIDE DAY OF SPORT TELEVISION
On the occasion of the “Worldwide Day of Sport Television” (21 November) will take place the delivery of the “Tv Sport Emotions – The best tv sport channel of the world 2016” given to the best television sports channel which joined the Program “TV SPORT EMOTIONS” launched by FICTS – as “International Federation of Sport Television” – among the 1.172 sports television channels of the world.
The delivery of the award will be preceded by the Workshop “New International Sport Movies Television Market Trends” at the end of International Forums (during the FICTS Festivals in 5 Continents) on trends of the television field, Internet and mobile platforms for a comparison on the future developments in order to check the current system of business and in order to analyze future trends through dialogue between different actors in the audiovisual sport production and distribution. In the past the prestigious acknowledgement was assigned to Eurosport (France) in 2012, CCTV – China Central Television (China) in 2013, Sky Sport (Italy) in 2014 and Channel One (Russia) in 2015.
30 YEARS OF “DYLAN DOG” AND HEROES OF SERGIO BONELLI
“SPORT MOVIES & TV 2016” will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Dylan Dog” Italian horror comics series featuring an eponymous character (a paranormal investigator) created by Tiziano Sclavi for the publishing house Sergio Bonelli Editore, awarded with the “Excellence Guirlande d’Honneur” to “Exsport Movies & Tv 2015”.
