In the occasion of the “Olympic Year 2016”, Milano (Italy), will host – from 16th to 21st November – “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2016 – 34th Milano International FICTS Fest” Final of 18 Festivals (around the 5 Continents) of the “SPORT E-MOTIONS World FICTS Challenge” World Championship of Television, Cinema, Communication and Sport Culture.

The event – under the slogan “FICTS Is Culture through sport” – is organized by FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, joined with 114 Countries (chaired by Prof. Franco Ascani, member of IOC Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission) recognized by the International Olympic Committee for which it promotes the values of sport through footages.

The seventeenth-century Palazzo Giureconsulti, in the heart of Milan (Piazza Mercanti 2 – Piazza Duomo) will be the “core business” of the event (admission by invitation with accreditation) with 145 Projections (among which 30 worldwide and European premieres in 6 points of projections), 8 Meetings, 2 Workshop, 4 Exhibitions, 2 Press Conference, 30 Awards of international guests, 7 Side Events distributed in different locations around Milano in collaboration with sports and cultural organizations as well as with BMW Milano and Sergio Bonelli Editore.

“Sport Movies & Tv 2016” (www.fictsfederation.it/brochure2016.pdf) will become a privileged meeting place for 5000/6000 operators and industry experts from around the world including Networks, media, broadcastings, houses of productions, producers, directors, filmmakers, Olympic Committees, advertising and integrated communication agencies, that will show the whole universe of cinema and sport television through spot, reportages, fiction, cartoon, etc. in 7 competitive Sections. The media coverage will be guaranteed by the major national and international networks, local stations, as well as live streaming by the daily press, by radio, Internet, new media and the new FICTS portal www.sportmoviestv.com dedicated to the world of cinema, television, web and the sport culture.

The official presentation of “Sport Movies & TV 2016” to the National and International Media will take place on Tuesday, November 8 (at 11 a.m.) at Giureconsulti Palace in Milano.

  • The “Opening Ceremony” will be held on Wednesday, November 16 (at 6 p.m.) at Palazzo Giureconsulti (Piazza Mercanti, 2 – Milano) with the delivery of the “Guirlande d’Honneur” – the highest FICTS award, considered the “Oscar of Sports Cinema and Television”, assigned to those personalities of sport, cinema and TV “who played a significant role in the promotion of the cultural and ethical values”. The ceremony will be preceded by the opening of the Exhibition “Art in movement” of the famous Greek visual artist Mina Papatheodorou – Valyraki, “IOC Sports Artist of the Year 2014” author of several posters as well as of stamps of “2004 Athens Olympic Games”.
  • On 17-18-19-20 November: Projections, Exhibitions, Conferences, Events. Inside the Palace Giureconsulti will feature the “Olympic Area” which will host the most significant images in to relive the excitement moments of 2016 Rio Olympic Games as well as the “Olympic film” of all-time together with productions about the Games come from the world’s most important Networks.
  • On Friday, November 18: day dedicated to Young people.
  • On Saturday, November 19 (at 3 p.m.) is scheduled for the traditional International Workshop “Innovative production techniques” organized in collaboration with WCPMedia Services on the trends of the film and television industry, the Internet and mobile platforms to be followed by meetings “One to One – Sport industry” reserved to producers, directors and professionals.
  • The “Award Ceremony” will take place – on Monday, November 21 (at 6 p.m.) – at Palazzo Lombardia (Piazza Città di Lombardia 1 – Via Melchiorre Gioia 37) on the occasion of the “World Television Day” (Encl. 2 – Program).

“Sport Movies & Tv 2016” to which will be guaranteed a wide international participation (journalists, operators and industry experts, sport champions, etc.), it’s a significant “worldwide showcase” for the productions coming form the 5 Continents that will compete for the assignment of the “Guirlande d’Honneur”, of the “Mention d’Honneur” as well as “Special Awards” which will be assigned by International Jury (Hon. President Dr Carlo Bozzali) composed by representatives from cinema, television, media, sport and culture of the Countries not participating in the Festival.
