Great success for the 7th edition of the BCN Sports Film – Barcelona International FICTS Festivalscheduled in Barcelona (Spain). The Festival has been organized in the framework of the Worldwide Championship of Cinema, Sport and Television “World FICTS Challenge” by the “Fundacio Olympic Barcelona” directed by Dr Juli Pernas Lopez (director of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch) with support of FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs and in collaboration with the Ayuntament de Barcelona Institut Barcelona Esport, the Spanish Olympic Committee and Nikita Distribution.

Marta Carranza, President of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica and Commissioner for Sports of the City Council of Barcelona was the person who gave the “Àmfora Ciutat de Barcelona to the best film” in the 7th edition of the Festival toBounce: How the ball taught the world”a documentary by Jerome Thélia and produced by Anne Carkeet (Merge Group). ‘Bounce’ explores the origins of our favourite sports. The documentary spans languages and continents to show how the ball has gained importance in our lives and fuelled our passion for competition. Consul General of United States, Marcos Mandojana, has received the award.

The special award of the jury: Marta Clari, Manager of Institut Barcelona Esports de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona; Sergi Agustí, filmmaker, photographer and producer; Daniel Arrébola, journalist and film critic;Miguel Angel C. Buttini, director, screenwriter and producer; and Sandrine Ferraro, actress and creenwriter – was for the movie CHANGEOVER” (Iran, 2014), directed and produced by Mehdi Alibeygi.

Received the award Pablo Sancho, Programmer of MOST (Festival Internacional de cinema del vi i cava de Vilafranca del Penedès) and President of Federació Catalana de Cineclubs.

This year the jury awarded a special mention to the movie “JAI ALAI BLUES” (País Vasco, 2015), by Gorka Bilbao. Berde Produkzioak production. Sergi Agustí, gave the award to Gorka Bilbao, Director of the documentary.

Award for best production of Catalonia: “PANAROMA” (Catalonia, 2015) by Jon Herranz. Produced by Gerard Peris (Namuss Films). Juli Pernas, Director of Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, gave the award to Rubén Peris, in representation of Namuss Films.

“THE CHAMPION” (United States, 2015). Directed and produced by Brett Garamella and Patrick McGowan (Hillside). Barbara Destefanis, of Nikita Events, gave the award to Vàngelis Villar, Management officer of Museu Olímpic.

Award for best fiction film: “DOMINGO”  (Mexico, 2015) by Raúl López Echeverría. A production by Jorge Díaz Sánchez (Kinesis Film House). Alberto Aragón, responsible of Centre d’Estudis Olímpics of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, gave the award to Cristina Rius, person in charge of the Cinema Area in the Casa Amèrica Catalunya.

Award for best short film – TARRAGONA 2017: MARATONDAGBOKEN (Norway, 2015) by Hanne Berkaak. Produced by Mikrofilm AS.  Judith Rubinach, director of sponsorships and events Tarragona 2017, gave the award to Daniel Horvarth. 

Award for best animated filmACCIDENT BLUNDERS AND CALAMITIES (New Zealand, 2015) by James Cunningham. Produced by Media Design School.  Juan Carlos Concha, Director of NON-STOP Barcelona Animació, gave the award to Sandrine Ferraro, Jury member, on behalf of the Film Director.

Award for best film of adventure sports – ÁLVARO BULTÓ: CHASING NIÁGARA” (Austria, United States, Mexico and Canada, 2015) by Rush Sturges. Produced by Red Bull Media House in collaboration with River Roots. Raúl Vázquez, on behalf of Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, gave the award to Agustí Argelich, Director of BCN Sports Film Festival and President of Catalunya Film Festivals.

Award for the best film about Solidarity and Sport: LA ÚLTIMA VUELTA”  (Catalonia and Spain, 2014) by Luis Mora Pizarro. Produced by Ghislain Barrois (Telecinco Cinema). Laura Solis, representant of Sant Boi Council, gave the award to Luis Mora, the film director.

Award for the Best Sport Advertising: DARKLIGHT (United States, 2015) by Mike Brown. Produced by Zac Ramras (Sweetgrass Productions). Ibone Lallana, Media officer of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport and BCN Sports Film Festival, gave the award to Azahara Moyano, actress.

Marta Carranza gave a Recognition to FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani Member of IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage. Espartac Peran was the master of ceremony in this 7th edition.
