The Organizing Committee of “BCN Sports Film 2014 – Barcelona International FICTS Festival” has chosen the Jury. The Festival organized – in the framework of the Worldwide Championship of Cinema, Sport and Television “World FICTS Challenge” – by the “Fundacio Olympic Barcelona” directed by Dr Juli Pernas Lopez (director of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch) in collaboration with “Nikita Distribution” and with support of FICTS, the Ayuntament de Barcelona Institut Barcelona Esport and the Spanish Olympic Committee. The event will be held in Barcelona (Spain) from 7th to 10th May 2014.
- ANA MARÍA BORDAS
Ana María Bordas graduated with a degree in Journalism from the UAB to take up a long career in RTVE. In 1984, after a time as editor of Radiocadena Española, she moved to RNE as a journalist to cover politics and went on to become international editor of the weekend news at TVE. She was Washington correspondent for RNE from 1989 till 1992 when she became non-sports news coordinator at Ràdio Olímpica at RNE-Ràdio 4 (the official radio for the Barcelona ’92 Games). She then continued her career in Catalonia with several posts in RNE and TVE between 1992 and 2008. In 2010 she became director of TVE and, since 2013, is director of RTVE Catalonia.
- MERI FARNELL
Meri Farnell is a lover of extreme sports and graduated as a Technician in Image and Audiovisual Production. Closely involved in many facets of the Creative Arts (photography, design, web programming, production, photographic directing and editing) she won the second MAU (Exhibition of Urban Art of Granollers) and produced the video “Barcelona Kaleidolapse”. She collaborates with the Nau Ivanow organising cultural events and is a cultural promoter for the Town Council of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat at their recently inaugurated Centre for Audiovisual Creation, Torre Barrina. She also collaborates with FILMETS Badalona and has taken part in conferences, markets, professional meetings and courses such as: Off-Courts; Tous Courts and FEC Reus amongst others.
- CARLOS MARAÑÓN
Carlos Marañón graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Barcelona and Journalism from the University of Navarra. He is director of the magazine CINEMANÍA since 2008. As a journalist and film critic he has contributed with, amongst others, El País, La Vanguardia, Cadena SER and Canal+. He writes a column in the AS newspaper and is a football commentator for Canal+. He is the author of two books: Futbol y Cine, el Balompié en la Gran Pantalla and Un Partido de Leyenda, a study of the John Huston film, Victory. Carlos also trained in the RCD Espanyol de Barcelona football academy.
- JAVIER MORACHO
Javier Moracho broke 20 Spanish records during his three- decade reign as the Spanish record-holder in the 60m and 100m hurdles and took part in the Moscow ’80, Los Angeles ’84 and Seul ’88 Olympic Games. He has received two awards for his professional career: the Medal for Sports Merit (1990) from the Government of Aragon and the Magnificent Sportsman Prize (2006). Javier graduated from the University of Barcelona with a degree in Sport and Physical Education and was the Director of Public Relations and Protocol of the Vuelta de España from 1990 to 2013, sports commentator on Eurosport TV (1996 – 2013), Televisión Española (1990) and Onda Cero Radio. He is currently teaching and doing consultancy work.
- MARÍA TERESA SAMARANCH
María Teresa Samaranch is a Doctor of Economics and Business Studies specializing in the Management of Sports Organisations. Her professional sports career started when she was attaché before the COOB’92 for the Australian delegation during the Barcelona OG. She was Director of Promotion, Publicity and Protocol for World Swimming Championships in Barcelona 2003 and the European Swimming Championships in Madrid 2004. She sits on the boards of the EAE Foundation, Spanish Olympic Committee, the Executive Committee of the COE and the Barcelona Olympic Foundation amongst others. She has been President of the Spanish Ice Sports Federation since 2005. As Vice-President of the Samaranch Foundation her contribution to sport was recognized in 2010 when she was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Royal Order of Sports Merit and then again in 2011 with the Silver Medal.
