The sport triumphs at the 90th Ceremony of the Academy Awards 2018 staged on the 4th March at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Three films of sport awarded with the Oscar 2018 were invited to participate in “SPORT MOVIES & TV 2018 – 36th MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FEST” (www.sportmoviestv.com), the Final of 16 Festivals (in the 5 Continents) of “World FICTS Challenge” World Championship of Television, Cinema, Culture and Sports Communication “Sport Movies & Tv 2018” scheduled in Milan (Italy) from 14 to 19 November.

Dear Basketball” – awarded as “Best Animated Short Film” – is the animated version of the letter, with which he bade farewell the Basketball Kobe Bryant, five-time NBA champion and owner of two Olympic gold medals, who added another trophy to his album, entering the law in the history of cinema. The short film – made together with the animator of Disney Glen Keane traces, in four minutes, the relationship between the champion and the basketball, starting from his childhood to a long career with the Los Angeles Lakers. For the realization the athlete has made use of the best experts in the sector: the cartoonist of Disney Glen Keane and, for the music, John Williams, former collaborator of Steven Spielberg.

Basketball was not the only discipline to receive the famous “statuette”. The actress Allison Janney has been awarded as “Best Supporting Actress” for the film “I, Tonya” (directed by Craig Gillespie) focused on the controversial life of the ice skater Tonya Harding (played by Margot Robbie), the protagonist in 1994 of one of the biggest sports scandals in the USA. Allison Janney, a Golden Globe winner for the role, played the role of the mother of the champion accused of assaulting her rival Nancy Kerrigan on the eve of the Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer 1994.

Icarus“, the documentary about the doping scandal in sport (in 2017 Hajo Seppelt investigative journalist and doping expert of the ARD network German Tv received the “Mention d’Honneur” for the work “Doping – Top Secret”), directed by Bryan Fogel (an amateur cyclist, who had started working on a film documenting his attempt to dope) and produced by Dan Cogan, won the “Best Documentary of the Year” award. Together with newspaper articles and months of investigations, the film was one of the most complete and accurate reports on the doping scandal in sport.
