In the year of the World Cup in Brazil, CINEfoot – International Football Film Festival“ (www.cinefoot.org) directed by Antonio Leal will take place in different cities: from 22 – 27  of May in Rio de Janeiro, from May 29 and June 3 in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte between May 30 and June 4, free of charge and 10 June to 12 July will be held CINEfoot World Cup Tour. In six days, several films about football from all over the world will be screened.

The Festival is organized in the framework of the Championship of Cinema and Sport Television “World FICTS Challenge” and it’s the Festival that accept audiovisual works of any nationality which approach to the main theme “Football”. The winners will compete to the assignment of the “Guirlande d’Honneur” in the “Movies & Tv Football” Section in Milan, from 3 to 8 December to “Sport Movies & Tv 2014”.

In 2014, CINEFOOT will pay tribute to the Brazilian National Football Team, the 60 years of the famous yellow jersey and the 20 years of Brazil becoming a four-time world champion.


Besides its regular programming, CINEFOOT will include a tour on the 12 World Cup host cities during the championship, with screenings of the best in football-related cinematography. The only football film festival in Brazil and Latin America is, thus, part of the cultural options offered by host cities during the World Cup.

The film Festival will be accepting entries for short, medium-length and feature films whose main theme is “Football”. Films produced in any format of any genre will be accepted, and there are no restrictions regarding the film’s year of production.

CINEfoot is the first and only film festival in Brazil and Latin America to promote and screen football films. The festival’s agenda includes international competitive screenings, special exhibitions, discussions, workshops, video contests, tributes etc.

 

ENDORSED EVENT – WORLD CUP PROMOTION PLAN

CINEfoot has been endorsed by the Brazilian Ministry of Sports to be part of the Official Agenda of the Federal Government to promote Brazil during the 2014 World Cup. The endorsement was the result of a Public Call for the Selection of Projects, which received more than 200 entries from all over Brazil. The endorsement of the Ministry of Sports highlights CINEfoot among other cultural interventions programmed for the 2014 World Cup.
