President of FICTS (Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs) Prof. Franco Ascani, Member of IOC Commission for “Culture and Olympic Education”, with the Board of Directors and the representatives of 116 Members Countries  give the last greetings to Dr Andrew Patrick Luwandagga, FICTS 1st V. President as well as Coordinator of FICTS Festival Commission. He was Jury President of several Festivals of the “World FICTS Challenge” all around the world.

Promoter and the organizer of the “Kampala International FICTS Festival” in Uganda, he supported, since 2000, the growth and spread of cultural and sport values in the African Continent with social cohesion initiatives of African youth through sport and its values.

Veteran sports commentator for Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), Andrew Patrick Luwandagga had been a sports journalist working with UBC television since 1975. He was the head of sports and current affairs at UBC. He noted that in 1980, he started working for the television as well and in 1984, he became the sports producer and won an award for best sports presenter of the year at the UTV Awards.

Andrew was the founder of Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) who served as General Secretary from 1988-1991 and then as President from 1991 to 1993.

Luwandagga trained with BBC radio and Channel France International. He joined Radio Uganda in 1974 where he started by presenting music and sports and later wrote features.

UBC’s spokesperson Rafsanjan Tatya described Luwandagga’s death as a great blow to the company because he was a skilled and hardworking person who has done a lot for the Nation.

FICTS has expected a “Remembrance Ceremony” on November 17 during “Sport Movies & Tv 2016” held in Milan.
