Great success in the “Opening Ceremony” of the “BCN Sports Film – Barcelona International FICTS Festival” led by Dr Maite Fandos, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and Deputy Mayor for Quality of Life, Equality and Sports, Prof. Franco Ascani, President of the Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs, Carles Llorens, Director of the Catalan Agency for Cooperation and John Fa President of the Catalan Basketball Federation.

At the “Opening Ceremony” – held at the Auditorium of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch (part of the Olympic Network Museum of IOC) and directed by Augustine Argelich – were also attend Santi Siquier, Regional Representative of the Government of Catalonia, among other personalities from the worlds of culture and sport.

The event ended with the screening of videos: “Olympic Vermin” (directed by Leo Bridle and Amael Isnard – UK) documentary about the importance of sport in Africa, “Unicorn Sashimi” (directed by Ben Knight and Travis Rummel – Japan) documentary about snowboarding and skiing as extreme activity and “The man Who lived on his bike” (directed by Guillaume Blanchet – Canada) fiction dream of living on the bicycle.

During the event, Prof. Ascani awarded Dr Maite Fandos with the “FICTS Guirlande d’Honneur” for the the Ayuntament de Barcelona. The event is organized – in the framework of the Worldwide Championship of Cinema, Sport and Television “World FICTS Challenge” – by the “Fundacio Olympic Barcelona” directed by Dr Juli Pernas Lopez (director of Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch) in collaboration with Nikita Distribution with support of FICTS, the Ayuntament de Barcelona and the Spanish Olympic Committee.

The “Closing Ceremony” of the “BCN Sports Film Festival” will take place on 20 April at the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport while the Sala Àmbit Cultural d’El Corte Inglés de Portal de l’Angel will host projections and meetings.
