Samara, the sixth largest city in Russia and the administrative centre of Samara Oblast situated in the south-eastern part of European Russia at the confluence of the Volga and Samara Rivers on the east bank of the Volga, will host form 10 to 13 September 2013 the Samara International FICTS Festival”.

The Festival is organized, in the framework of the Worldwide Championship of cinema and Sport television “World FICTS Challenge”, by the International Sport Movie Festival led by Dr Shamil Tarpishchev, IOC Member and President of Russian Tennis Federation with the support of the Government of Samara Oblast. Executive Director of the Festival is Stanislav Stepanets, General director is Jacob Shathin Savelievich while Said Torpischev is the Art Director.

The Festival will be located in seven different places in three cities of the Samara oblast: the “Khudozhestvenny” movie theater and the “Polyteknitchesky University” will host the event. At the “Opening Ceremony” of the “Samara International FICTS Festival” will attend, besides the FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani and the Institutional Russian Authorities: the tennis player Anastasia Myskina (two-time Fed Cup champion), the gymnast Aleksey Nemov (four-time Olympic champion), ice-hockey player Sergey Makarov (two-time Olympic champion), Nikolay Pisarev senior coach of the Russian National U-21 soccer team, Aleksandr Tikhonov (eleven-time world champion and four-time Olympic champion biathlete).

The goal of the Festival is to promote sports and healthy lifestyle, to develop sports art and documentary cinema. The Festival aims realization of a state policy regarding development of mass physical culture and sports, promoting of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening of image of Russia as leading sports country. The goal of the Festival is also to create close connections between sports journalists, directors, actors and people who help to do sports cinema the brightest phenomenon in the film industry.

It is known that sport is the pressed model of life.  That feeling of life the person experienced for year may pass by in sport within a second. It’s a huge art to catch the moment” – the President of the Festival Shamil Tarpischev noted. “People creating sports movies are, as a rule, not only excellent professionals, but also the masters of sports. The best and the most interesting works are presented at our Festival“.

International competition has the following nominations:

  • “The Best Documentary Film”
  • “Sports and Personality”
  • “Overcoming”
  • “Fidelity to the Olympic Ideals”.

The program of the International sports movie and TV Festival will include the Russian and International competitions.  Festival works are directed by cinematographers sent were works for the Festival from all over the world: Bulgaria, UK, Vietnam, Germany, Iran, Italy, Portugal, the USA, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Russia and other countries.

The Festival will allow to see a wide palette of physical culture and sport in our country.  Participants of the Festival will be invited from different regions.  They will take part in a master classes and a round tables together to discuss plans of promotion of sports, to exchange opinions on successes and problems of physical culture and sport in their countries. The result of these performances will be brought by the president of the International federation sports cinema and television – Professor Franco Askani.

The Festival is an international discussion platform for participants from different countries, the International Olympic Committee, the international sports Federations, outstanding athletes and mass media.

The goal of the Festival is to popularize sports and healthy lifestyle, to stimulate the development of sports art and documentary cinema, to strengthen international cooperation and to expand information space of sports journalists, directors and other sports cinema creators.

The Board of Directors makes the program of the Festival. The participant assumes all expenses on transfer of materials and their insurance. The organizing Committee assumes a duty on insurance and storage of the works received. The participants, whose works are allowed to compete, are invited for participation in the Festival at the expense of organizers.

Festival Jury

The international jury assesses the movies. The Jury consists of the Chairman and two judges. Their decisions on the list of participants are the trade secret and will be disclosed on the Awards ceremony. The Jury has the right to assign the Grand Prix and the special prize of the President of the International festival sports movie and TV with approval of the President of the Festival and ANO “International Sports Movie Festival”. It’s possible that various incentive prizes will be established.
