Swiss Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation Patrick Baumann was elected the new President of SportAccord during Friday’s General assembly in Lausanne. Baumann was chosen over Russia’s Anna Arzhanova, with 55 votes to 25 and will serve a four-year term in office.

Newly-elected President Patrick Baumann – the favorite going into Friday’s election – is an IOC member, a noted supporter of Thomas Bach and Agenda 2020, and is a member of the IOC’s Athletes’ Entourage Commission and Marketing Commission. He is also the President of the Organizing Committee of 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne.
“We have to change and improve on a daily basis of we don’t want somebody else to change us. Every single federation has to take this extremely seriously and take a hard look at how they do things” – Baumann said.
